The Compact Phone That We All Deserve Is the Vivo X200 Pro Mini

This week marked the official launch of the Vivo X200 series in China. The X200 Pro Mini blew me away, even though I was focused on the X200 Pro. Although the phone’s name may sound extremely formal, it isn’t. This little phone, which retailed for CNY 4,699 (about $660), has every feature you might want in a small flagship. Not to mention that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is a function that has never been seen on a phone before. Having said that, this is everything Vivo’s little wonder boy has to offerโ€”at least, it makes me drowsy!

Just the Correct Amount of Display

VIVO

The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution (2640 ร— 1216 pixels) is the focal point of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini. It’s not as little as the 5.9-inch screen on the ASUS Zenfone 10, the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 16, or the 6.2-inch panel on the Galaxy S24, but it’s still a decent amount of display without feeling excessive. The fact that this product is being offered by a company that doesn’t typically release little phones makes it even more favorable.

The panel of the X200 Pro Mini has a 120Hz refresh rate. The truly shocking thing, though, is that BOE’s LTPO panelโ€”which was previously limited to 1Hzโ€”can now dip as low as 0.1Hz. Thus, you will receive not only a compact and responsive display but also one that will conserve more battery life. Moreover, Vivo makes the astounding claim that its max brightness is 4,500 nits.

By the way, this phone has a flat display, which is standard for little phones. This little phone weighs only 187 grams and has dimensions of 150.83 ร— 71.76 ร— 8.15 mm, making it more convenient. Additionally, it is water and dust resistant with an IP68 classification.

Days of Battery Life!

But this phone’s diminutive form factor and small display aren’t its only unique features. I tip my hat to Vivo at this point. With a large 5,700mAh BlueVolt battery, the Vivo X200 Pro Mini has more capacity than even the best flagship smartphones.

As a point of comparison, the Pixel 9 Pro XL boasts a 5,060mAh battery, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery, and the OnePlus 12 has a 5,400mAh battery.

Similar in capacity, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro (first impressions) really amazed me with its battery life, even though it’s a foldable phone. Thus, one can only speculate about the kind of backup that this smaller monster could be able to provide. The device will charge entirely quickly because it supports both 30W wireless charging and 90W cable charging.

Unaffected Performance

Furthermore, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset is located beneath the engine. The most advanced chipset from MediaTek, built using a 3nm manufacturing process. Yes, according to reports, this is the chipset that was surpassing 3 million points on AnTuTu. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s maximum frequency of up to 2 million is over 40% lower.

That might alter with the imminent release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is anticipated to score similarly, but the important thing is to see who did it first. In contrast, Samsung’s Exynos 2400 barely manages to reach 2 million.

In addition, the chipset comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM, which makes for incredibly quick storage. You can also enjoy up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 Flash Storage.

Good Pair of Cameras

Regarding the camera, the Vivo X200 Pro Mini does not let you down either. The 50MP Sony LYT818 primary sensor, supported by ZEISS, is paired with a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide camera. The use of a 1/2โ€ฒโ€ฒ 50MP periscope telephoto sensor, which has a 3x optical zoom and a 100x digital zoom, is the setup’s standout feature. Yes, you heard correctly.

Not even the most recent iPhone 16 and Pixel 9 have a periscope camera or telephoto sensor. The Galaxy S24, on the other hand, has a 1/4โ€ฒโ€ฒ telephoto with a 3x optical zoom. The Vivo V3+ imaging chipset is another option that improves the images even further.

Vivo did, however, repurpose the previous set of phones’ 32MP selfie camera, which may have been better. Apart from that, all that’s present is gold.

The Compact Phone with No Compromise That I’ve Always Desired

The Vivo X200 Pro Mini appears to be too good at every angle. Furthermore, Origin OS 5.0 appears amazing with its seemingly amazing animations and enhancements. It’s still not too horrible, even though the rest of the world will receive the boring Funtouch OS 15, which is based on Android 15.

Even if it might not be released everywhere right now, I really hope it is in the future. There are really too many potential in the tiny phone market, and I would love to see more OEMs occupying this sector and providing us with more excellent options.

I just tested out the Moto Edge 50 Neo (first impressions), a far less expensive mid-range phone with a 6.3-inch screen than the previous model. Additionally, these phones have an inexplicable appeal of their own.

especially considering that the X200 Pro Mini is so attractively priced. I also enjoy that you have the option of going with Light Pink and Titanium Green or the traditional Plain White and Simple Black color schemes.

The Vivo X200 and X200 Pro are the other two stunning phones in the list; the X200 Pro Mini appears to be the middle-of-the-road model.

However, my reviewer hands are itching so badly for the X200 Pro Mini that I can’t wait to use it! When it does, you know where to find me. In the interim, what are your thoughts on Vivo’s most recent little phone? Post your ideas in the comments section below!
