November 2024: New Features Added to WhatsApp

Another month has gone by, and our favorite messaging software has a number of new November features, some of which have been released to the general public. Similar to last month, we noticed some very amazing things that I can’t wait to show you. Check out the list below if you’re as eager as I am to find out what updates and new features WhatsApp implemented in November 2024.

November 2024 saw the addition of new WhatsApp features (Stable).

All of the new WhatsApp features that are accessible to everyoneโ€”even those who are not enrolled in the beta programโ€”are listed here. I advise you to update the app right away if you haven’t already received them on your smartphone.

1-Convert Voice Messages to Text

Accessible on iPhone and Android

You can now transcribe voice messages that you’ve received on WhatsApp. You can use this to read a voice note’s contents if you can’t hear the message itself. After first appearing in beta, the feature is now gradually making its way to all Android and iPhone users.

2-Novel Typing Indicators

Accessible on iPhone and Android

This month, the business also replaced its classic Typingโ€ฆ sign with a new, contemporary one that is seen in other apps like iMessage and Instagram. It appears when the other person is typing, and because it is animated, it has a more appealing appearance.

3-Reminders for Status Updates

Accessible on iPhone and Android

November

Status Update Reminders are another upcoming change that will affect everyone. It will notify you at random when your favorite contacts’ statuses change. The way Instagram alerts you when a buddy posts a story is quite similar to this. Of course, you may disable it at any time from the Notification settings.

4-Drafts of messages

Accessible on iPhone and Android

Another tool that was first made accessible in beta but is now being made available to all users is Message Draft. It makes it simpler to identify your unsent message from your chat list and pick up where you left off by displaying it as a draft. This function was initially introduced in September, and I’m happy that everyone may now use it.

5-Enhance GIFs with captions

Accessible on iPhone and Android

Additionally, you may now add captions to the GIFs before emailing them, which makes using them more enjoyable. This is a really tiny featureโ€”even I was unaware of itโ€”but I have no doubt that users of WhatsApp who frequently use GIFs will find it useful.

November 2024: New November Features for WhatsApp (Beta)

All of the WhatsApp features that are presently being tested and will eventually be made available to everyone have been covered here.

6-Media Gallery shortcut

Android testing

WhatsApp is testing a new image gallery shortcut in the chat window to make it simpler for you to view your media assets while in a conversation. It will show up beside the attachment icon and let you go straight to your image folder. Although useful, I believe it will take up typing space unless WhatsApp gives you the option to keep it or not.

7-Put Your Own Stickers Here

Android testing

WhatsApp is now using Instagram’s Add Yours sticker to try to increase user engagement with their status update feature. People can post status updates and start a chain by tapping the interactive sticker. Instagram’s version allows you to see who started the chain and what other people have shared, but this one doesn’t appear to do either of those things. Although it is still in its infancy, I hope it will soon be available on our apps.

8-Themed Contact Icons

Android testing

At the moment, a gray contact icon will show up for those without a profile photo. Because everyone experiences this in the same way, it can occasionally be challenging to distinguish between distinct talks. This may be the reason WhatsApp is developing themed contact icons, which will give each contact symbol a unique hue to help them stand out from one another.

9-Emojis with animation

Android testing

Although some of the app’s emojis are already animated, it appears that WhatsApp is extending this functionality to the message replies feature. This feature, which causes a joyful confetti-like animation when a message is reacted to with the Party Popper, Partying Face, and Confetti Ball emojis, was seen by certain beta testers.

10-Advances in Meta AI

Android testing

Since it was first released on the app, Meta AI has undergone multiple revisions, but there is still much work to be done. We already talked about the next AI’s one-on-one audio chat function, but now we get a sneak peek at how its new dedicated screen will seem. As you can see, it offers the option to talk or type, just like ChatGPT’s voice chat panel.

11-A new call information screen

Android testing

WhatsApp has also updated its call information screen, which now features a larger profile banner, audio and video call shortcuts, and the ability to message a user directly. Additionally, it will streamline your call page by combining call logs for a single contact. You can view both the previous and current call information pages above.

12-Collective Remarks

Android and iPhone testing

WhatsApp formally introduced the mentions function in status updates for all users last month. However, you can only choose up to five contacts at a time. The software is currently testing the capability of mentioning a group, nevertheless. By doing this, you can indirectly mention a wide network of friends by tagging each member of the group in your posts.

13-Before forwarding, add a message.

Android testing

We frequently forward messages to numerous recipients, however if you would like to include a note with the forwarded content, you will need to do so for each recipient individually. WhatsApp will address this by adding the option to attach a personalized note, which will make forwarding messages easier.
