The Community Edition of Nothing Phone (2a) Has an Official Release Date

Following the release of the Phone (2a) (review) in March, nothing was said about the Community Edition Project. The community has been working tirelessly with Nothing for the last six months to create a brand-new Phone (2a) version that is inspired by their creativity. And it appears that Nothing is at last prepared to release the finished product.

Community Edition

The Phone (2a) Community Edition’s debut date was revealed in a brief video posted by the London-based company on X. On October 30 at 11:00 GMT, there will be an event called “Community Spirit.”

There’s little doubt that the firefly in the video has a luminous green abdomen. This alludes to the Phone (2a) Community Edition’s finished appearance, color, and glow-in-the-dark features. In the daytime, the phone seems to be just another standard Pale Mint shade. In a dark setting, however, the color changes to a bright green design that glows.

Since Nothing the designs and the winners of every step are featured on the Nothing website, we already know this. For those who do not know, the co-creating project was divided into four stages:

Hardware design:

Phosphorescence, a design that combines several materials to give the phone a “playful, meaningful, and just the right amount of unexpected” look, is the standout feature of this Community Edition.

Wallpaper design:

Nothing selected the “Connected Collection” from a plethora of submissions; it incorporates hand-drawn components, the company’s current wallpapers, and some inspiration from the Phosphorescence design for a distinctive aesthetic.

Packaging design:

In keeping with the theme of “Less is More,” the box is painted a pastel green color and features a macro image of a phone lens in focus.

Marketing campaign:

Choosing a strategy to market the Community Edition was the last step. Nothing selected “Find your light” for this. The phrase “Capture your light” unites the four steps and welcomes the concept of firefly.

It’s possible that the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition will continue to use the same specs as the original Phone (2a). In that case, you’ll receive three Glyph segments, a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, and the Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC. The phone will also have a 32MP Sony IMX 615 sensor on the front and a 50MP primary + 50MP ultrawide dual camera configuration at the rear. A 5,000 mAh battery, 45W wired charging, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 for communication are among the additional specifications.
