Joker 2, one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2024, is coming up. However, even though we are naming it โJoker 2โ. This film was originally titled Joker: Folie ร Deux. Yes, a French title has been given to the film, but what does Folie a Deux in Joker 2 actually mean? The most important query is: What connection does this title have to Joker 2’s story?
In French, Folie a Deux means Madness of Two.
“Folie a Deux” (JOKER) is a French expression that refers to a shared delusion or mental disease between two persons who are closely related. Given that the entire plot of Joker 2 centers on two individuals, Arthur and Harley, who have gone insane and are comforting each other, the title appears to have been carefully considered.
The Joker, or Arthur, informs his therapist that “I am not alone anymore,” as the Joker 2 teaser explains, making the title of the film meaningful. The entire cinematic featured in this film’s trailer conveys the extent of Arthur’s loneliness and the improvement in his quality of life after meeting Harley, who knows him better than anyone else.
Joker: Folie a Deux is somewhat of a musical since music is used to depict his happiness. We’re not sure how much music will impact the storyline of this film, but given that Lady Gaga is voicing Harley Quinn in Joker 2, it might have a big impact.
Choosing such a thoughtful title for this film, in my opinion, demonstrates how much consideration has gone into the production’s quality.
